Pelješac Peninsula
Peljesac Peninsula is situated in the Dubrovnik -Neretva County, just about an hour and a half drive from Dubrovnik. Pelješac is around 70 km long and starts with two picturesque towns, Ston and Little Ston that connects it with the mainland.
Pelješac was inhabited since ancient times by Illyrians and Greeks, later by Romans and since the 7th century by Slavs. It has an ancient maritime tradition, especially Orebić and Kućište.
Pelješac Peninsula is also well known since ancient times for the fine vineyards, especially with Plavac mali, the primary red wine variety in central and southern Dalmatia. Protected positions of "Dingac" and "Postup" are famous all over the world.
Orebić is situated on the south-western part of the peninsula, on Pelješac Channel, beneath Mount St. Elias. The hills of Orebić provides panoramic views of the islands of Korčula, Mljet and Lastovo along with the Pelješac channel.
